From first sketch to delivery
How a commission becomes a piece of furniture.
Every project follows the same eight steps, whether it's a side table or a 14-foot dining table. The timing varies, but the order doesn't.
The first conversation
A phone call, an email, or coffee at the shop. We ask about the room, the people, the use. No charge, no obligation. Roughly 30–60 minutes.
Site visit & measurements
For built-in work or large pieces, Jeffrey visits in person to measure, photograph the light, and check sight lines. Within 80 miles, no travel fee.
Hand-drawn proposal
Within two weeks you receive a butcher-paper sketch, a written description, and a fixed-price quote. Revisions are part of the process.
Wood selection
You're invited to the lumber barn to look through stock for your commission. We tag the boards together. (If you can't visit, we send photos and let you choose.)
Bench work begins
Milling, joinery, dry-fit, and adjustment. We send photos every two weeks so you can follow along. This is where most of the time goes.
Glue-up & final fit
One careful day. Once it's clamped, the piece doesn't come apart again.
Finishing
Sanding to 320, raised grain, second sanding, then oil or shellac in thin coats over two to three weeks. Patience is the whole secret.
Delivery & aftercare
We deliver and install within 200 miles. You get a written care card, a small bottle of touch-up oil, and an open invitation to bring the piece back for service — forever.
Honest answers
Frequently asked.
How long is the wait?
Currently 14 to 22 weeks from contract signing to delivery, depending on the size of the piece and the season.
What does a dining table cost?
Most six-to-eight-foot dining tables in domestic species fall between $4,800 and $11,000 depending on stock, joinery complexity, and finish. We quote in writing before any work begins.
Do you ship outside Florida?
We deliver in person within 200 miles. For commissions further out, we crate carefully and use a small handful of trusted white-glove carriers. Shipping is quoted separately.
Can I supply my own wood?
Yes, frequently. Family trees, storm-fall from a property, or salvaged barn timber — bring it to us. We'll inspect, mill, and dry it (charges apply) before incorporating it.
Do you offer payment plans?
Standard terms are one-third on contract, one-third on glue-up, and one-third on delivery. Longer schedules are available for larger commissions.
Ready when you are.
The next batch of commissions opens for the autumn schedule. There's usually room for two or three new pieces.
